Your team feels good about your guest experience. The greeters are warm, the check-in process runs smoothly, the follow-up emails go out on schedule. By every internal measure, it’s working.

But you’re not the one walking in cold.

A guest doesn’t experience your ‘next steps’ system the way your staff does. They notice if your website is missing the one piece of information they’re looking for. They are the ones who park in the wrong spot because the signage was unclear. They are the ones who go to the wrong part of the building to drop off their child. And they’re the ones who filled out a connection card expecting a warm conversation and instead got a church newsletter.

Not one of these items is a crisis on it’s own, but enough of them combined together creates a scenario that could explain why you’re first-time visit are healthy is your second-time visits are almost non-existent.

These are the mistakes that don’t show up in a staff meeting but play a key role in whether a family decides to return for that second visit. You’ll be able to spot which of these gaps exist in your church right now, and create a plan for what to fix first.
